Reduced Fare InformationThe reduced fare program, as called for under the Federal Transit Administration Guidelines, offers reduced bus fares to seniors (62+) and persons with qualifying disabilities. Qualifying disabilities are determined based on the Americans with Disabilities Guidelines. Mental disabilities qualify only if they prevent an individual from operating an automobile. To qualify for the disability reduced fare an individual must show their MTA Photo ID. To be issued an MTA photo ID for persons with disabilities, you must present the following:
Once you have the required documents, please hand deliver them to the Macon Transit Authority at 200 Cherry Street (Terminal Station), Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. If approved by the Director of Operations, you will be issued an MTA photo ID. This program is not related to income, only to age or disability. While we would like to offer discounted fares to everyone who needs them, we are only able to provide the reduced fare for those who meet the age (62+) or disability criteria. If you have questions or require additional assistance, please call 478/746-1318. |
